During the recent grade 10 interdisciplinary unit (affectionately known as an “IDU”), students worked within their English and Arts subject areas to examine how artists, specifically protest artists, communicate their messages to an audience.
Students identified global issues and created original poems as a part of their English classes, then used these poems as a stimulus to create works of art. The IDU exhibition, held on October 29, 2024, at Doro 16 in downtown Bucharest, was a chance for students to display their works of activist art to the AISB community and discuss their own intentions and process with attendees. The exhibition featured a wide variety of art forms such as sculptures, paintings, photography, film, music, and live performances. Here, we will showcase some of the student-created artwork, performed compositions, and a film created for the IDU, where you can see some inspiring examples of how poetry can influence artistic expression.
