Grade 6 student Theo W. is a young athlete with a passion for football.
Originally from Austria, Theo has mostly grown up in Romania, where his love for the sport truly began. Now playing for the Barcelona Academy in Romania, he dreams of becoming a professional footballer.
What follows is Theo’s story, in his own words:
My passion is sports, and my favorite sport right now is football. I train a lot, almost every day, not only with my club but also at home. I always strive to improve and become a better footballer. Football has become a huge part of my life, and I can’t imagine a day without it. No matter how challenging it gets, I always find joy in playing and pushing myself to the limit in order to reach my dream.
Moving to Romania from Austria made a big difference in my football journey. There are so many more opportunities here. In Austria, we didn’t even have a school football team—but at AISB, I can train, compete, and even travel for matches. My teammates and coaches have been incredibly supportive, helping me push myself further. The community here is amazing, and it has helped shape my love for the game even more. I feel like I belong to a football family that constantly motivates me to do better.
Before football, I played ice hockey, but I realized that football was my true passion. My parents and my whole family supported me, but it was my teammates and coach who really made me love the sport. Watching players like Mbappé and Ronaldo inspired me, and now, I hope to follow in their footsteps. Seeing them play at the highest level makes me want to become as great as I can become.
Joining the Barcelona Academy was a challenge. It’s not just about being good at football, you need to have the right mentality, confidence, and dedication. The expectations are high, and at times, it’s stressful, but I push through and always try my best. Even when I don’t have practice, I train at home because I know this is the time to work as hard as possible. The competition is tough, and it takes real determination to stand out. But that’s what makes it exciting, I thrive on the challenge and always look for ways to improve.
Representing AISB on the football field has been an incredible experience. Traveling for matches and playing against different teams has helped me grow as a player. It has also boosted my confidence and made me realize how much I love competing at a high level. Every match teaches me something new, and I use those lessons to become better at the sport.
One day, I hope to play professionally. Since I’ve grown up with the Barcelona Academy, it would be amazing to play for FC Barcelona, but I’m open to playing for any big club. Football is my dream, and I will continue giving it my all to make it a reality. I know the road ahead is challenging, but I’m ready to work hard and chase my dream. No matter where my football journey takes me, I know that my dedication and passion will guide me toward success.
