Grade 11 student Donggyu S. is nearing the completion of his first year in the Diploma Program (DP) and recalls the challenges of the subjects, the mystery of the release block, and some of his future career goals.

Here is Donggyu’s story, in his own words:

[Grade 11 has been]chaotic because of the free block and the release block, which I didn’t even know what these were at first, but it was fun. In the release block, it was good to go home early and have a rest or sleep at home. The difficulties [of the Diploma Program] is colossal; it was challenge to me, because my second language is English.

The MYP didn’t really require deep knowledge about your subject area that you learn, but the DP requires you to think more outside of the box.

My hobbies are playing badminton, also coaching hockey and playing video games. I have a job in my future: I want to be a professional video gamer and also work in digital design, but I’m not sure about that.
