Three new iPhones were announced on September 12, 2017 in the Steve Jobs theater in California. An iPhone 8, 8 Plus and the highly anticipated iPhone X. Since the presentation, many have been struggling between buying the 8 and the X; however, there is really no reason to do so.

The iPhone X has a completely different look from all other Apple products, resembling more of an Android. This means that it doesn’t have the home button that millions of people use every day. The home button is a fast and accessible tool built in the iPhone 8 that allows you to unlock your phone with touch- ID. You could have the phone in your pocket, unlock it and enter an app before bringing it to your face. Instead, the iPhone X has facial recognition. After watching the part about the iPhone X in the presentation, many had noticed how long the phone took to recognize the speaker and unlock the phone. The Telegraph reported that “Apple’s launch of the iPhone X didn’t go exactly to plan following a live demo fail during the introduction of a key new feature.”

The iPhone X has a full screen display of 5.8 in, Super Retna Display which cuts off part of pictures or videos that you are watching on your phone because of the area where the front camera, speaker and face recognition is placed. “The photos problem bothers me a lot,” says British technology writer Ben Lovejoy, in his article regarding the iPhone display. “Especially as the better camera is a key part of the appeal of the iPhone X. I can take better photos on my iPhone, I just can’t show some of them to people properly on the iPhone.”

The iPhone 8 on the other hand is 4.7 in, Retina HD and much more appealing because instead of having to use two hands or tapping someplace on the screen, the iPhone 8 allows you to reach everything with one hand because of its size. Another reason why the iPhone 8 is a much better choice is because it has the same way of charging as the X. Both new iPhones have new wireless charging as well as the standard cable fast charging.

Lastly, the price. The iPhone 8 starts at $700 USD while the iPhone X starts at $1,000 USD. If you are switching from an iPhone 7 to an 8 you do not have to spend more money to get a new case that fits because the design is exactly the same.

Basically, the iPhone 8 is a much better choice in all aspects, especially if you don’t want to waste your money on the iPhone X.
