On Thursday, June 16th, 2022, with summer vacation right around the corner, our whole school got together for our last meet-up of the year: Rock in the Park.

Parents, teachers and students from all grades gathered in the Central Park to enjoy catchy musical performances alongside booths with fun activities and plenty of food. The musical performances came from across the school population, including teachers, and there was a variety of genre’s of music performed. The event was run by AISB’s Arts Council, who worked around the clock to make sure everything ran seamlessly.

Here are some of the performances:

Congratulations to all of the performers! The energy in the crowd was electric, especially when the two teacher bands came on and everyone started singing along.

“[Rock in the Park] brought students and families together from across the school.  We really needed something like this after COVID and distance learning!” - AISB Music Teacher Courtney McDonald.

The first Rock in the Park at AISB was in June 2019 at the suggestion of AISB’s former Vice Principal, Fiona Moss. She mentioned to Ms. McDonald that they ran this event at at her school in China, (Western Academy of Beijing) and it was a huge hit.

"We worked really hard to make the event happen and I think it paid off. " -Megan, grade 10, Art Council

Some new additions from 2019 were a large outdoor stage rented, food trucks (Camionetta and Bubble Waffle), and game booths run by different councils and and service groups within our school.

A huge thank you to Ms McDonald and the students involved in the Arts Council that made this amazing event happen, Vaibhavi, Megan, Smaranda, Alexia, Naia, Emma, Clara, Vaida, Sophia and Luisa.
