In the recent grade 10 interdisciplinary unit (known as an “IDU”), now in its 3rd year, students combined their English and Arts skills to produce creative projects that address global issues. These projects culminate in the yearly IDU exhibition, showcasing visual arts, film, theater, music, and spoken word.

This year’s pop up art exhibition, held the evening of October 30, 2025, at One Cotroceni Office in downtown Bucharest, allowed students to display their creative works to the AISB community and discuss their own intentions and process. In addition to the students, over 40 people were in attendance, primarily including parents and grade 10 teachers, as well as Director Rachel Caldwell, Secondary Principal Mel Kempe, and MYP Coordinator Kate Sorrell.

The grade 10 students taking the Leadership for Impact course in lieu of an Arts elective organized the event by booking the venue, writing grants for the refreshments, putting up signage, checking coats, ushering attendees, designing programs and posters, as well as producing a behind-the-scenes video of the IDU process.

The Bite was on hand to document the event in photos and videos. Enjoy!

Visual Arts

Twelve students presented their visual artwork throughout the space, getting creative in how to hang and display their work since they were not allowed to permanently attach anything to the walls.

Film

Eight film students exhibited their short, impressionistic videos one after the other in two back-to-back screenings.

Music

Four music students presented their digital compositions or performed their lyrics in the exhibition hall to an audience.

Theater Arts

In the main exhibition hall, starting from around 8pm, the theater students presented their often wordless but quite dramatic interpretations of their global issues. Here are snippets of the three groups’ performances:

Poem Recitals

The evening ended with a select number of students reciting their poems either informally in a Poetry Slam style or formally at the podium. Unfortunately the Poetry Slam performers moved too quickly and the photos turned out blurry, so here are the ones from the podium:

We can’t wait for next year’s pop up art show!
