Starting tomorrow (Thursday, May 29th), The Bite will launch its first-ever print magazine (on recycled paper, of course!). Tenth graders Clara, Naomi, Raquel, and Matei designed 16 pages of glossy goodness to celebrate how far the journalism program has come.

The inaugural edition is all about summer, and our cover story pays homage to four of our graduating seniors: Venla P, Clara V, Andrei A, and Charlotte D. They share information about their high school experience and future plans for college (and military service). We also have features on summer trends, European travel destinations, our new school director, a restaurant review, and even a Q&A with Aries–the author of this year’s most-commented article, “To Be Black: An AISB Experience.”

Our cover was designed by tenth graders Ilinca P and Matei V. If anyone knows Ilinca and her incredible illustrations, you probably recognized her style immediately, as she drew the school.

This is just the first edition of many to come. Starting next school year, we’ll be printing quarterly. Look out for copies in the fall, winter, spring and summer, and make sure to contact us if you’re interested in contributing (illustrations, copy, photography).

To celebrate, we’ll be selling Bite cupcakes, courtesy of the school’s cupcake extraordinaire, Ramona. They’ll be available in chocolate and vanilla, for 10 lei, in front of the library during lunch on Thursday. We’ll also have copies of the magazine for you to browse, with extra copies in the library and in common areas. We encourage you to read and return, in order to reuse and inevitably help us recycle for our follow-up publication.

We hope you enjoy! Please let us know in the comments below what you liked, and what you’d like to see in future editions!
